These are the questions that Stephen asked me when I told him I was thinking about starting a blog. Well, obviously, my answers to his questions were "yes, I am jumping on the 'blog bandwagon.'" I have decided that this is probably one of the best ways to keep everyone updated on the happenings of our lives. Here is the short version of what has been going on in our lives in the past two and a half years...
In December of 2006 we sold our house in Greenville, a huge miracle within itself, and moved to Wake Forest, NC. Stephen is working on his Masters of Divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and he will graduate this May. I have been teaching second grade at a public elementary school about 35 minutes north of our house. Our lives completely changed forever when we found out that I was pregnant last April. Our initial reaction was "oh wow!" However, once things started to sink in, we couldn't have been happier. We enjoyed watching, through ultrasounds, hearing, through Doppler, and feeling our little one grow inside of me. We decided not to find out the sex of our baby because we wanted to be surprised. The entire time I was pregnant, however, I said that I would want to find out with our next one. I had this feeling the entire time that it was a girl. I don't know if it was due to the fact that I read somewhere that the sicker you are (which I was), the more likely it is a girl. Anyways, I just had this feeling.
Well, after a short, easy labor (praise the Lord), my "feeling" was proven correct as Sofia Grace Lewis was born on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at 2:55 pm. She weighed in at 7 lbs 2 oz and was 20 inches long. After she was born, Stephen asked me if labor was as bad as I was expecting, I quickly responded, "I'd do it again," and if we are blessed some day with another bundle of joy, I will keep his/her sex a surprise again. Hearing Stephen say "It's a girl," was by far one of the top two moments of my life! She was absolutely perfect and showed us just how much we had to be thankful for just three days later on Thanksgiving.
Sofia is truly a blessing and adds so much joy to our lives. It is very hard to imagine life without her! She is now almost five months old and is talking up a storm, like her mom, Stephen says. She has also been laughing and making adorable squealing noises! We just had her four month check up and she is doing great!
I have been back to work for about 2 and a half months now. Being a full-time working mom has been very tiring, but also rewarding. I get to make a difference in the lives of 19 seven and eight year olds during the day and then come home to my adorable baby and amazing husband. Sofia stays home with her daddy during the day as he finishes up his masters.
In May, after he graduates, we are not quite sure what we will be doing. :) Ha. We are praying that the Lord will lead us to what He will have for us next. Please pray with us as this is not exactly the best time to be looking for jobs with the economy the way it is. Thankfully, we know the Lord is in control and will provide.
Well, that, in a nutshell, is what is going on our lives these days. I apologize for the "lengthiness" of it, but it is not exactly easy to cover 2 and a half years in such a small space, especially when you throw a baby into the mix :)
I hope to keep this updated so friends and family will stay updated on "the Lewis Lowdown."
