A Day at the Park

The weather here has been ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY gorgeous outside! We have spent a lot of time outdoors in the past couple of days. Sofia and I have eaten lunch outside, gone for wagon rides, walked to the park, played with the ball and tried to put her Cozy Coupe together.

Ok people, what I'm about to tell you, may shock you. {Not really, but I'm really raged about this...} Sofia got one of the Little Tykes Cozy Coupes for Christmas from her Mimi and Grandpa. Since the weather has been so nice out, I thought it would be a good time to get it out. So, like any mom would do, I started to put it together, making sure to pay close attention to the assembly instructions. I got the base of the car put together, and needed Stephen to look at one thing before I went any further. He did and little did I know, he tried to also finish assembling the car for me. The next day, I went to put the the rest of the car together and got to the part where I had to put the two front, yellow posts into the red base. So, being the woman that I am, I read the instructions, paying close attention to the pictures and figured, oh, this will be easy, just put the post in and then slide back to lock it in. No folks, it is not as easy as just putting the post in and sliding it back to lock it in. I'm literally putting all of my weight on this post, enough so that my feet are no longer touching the ground, but are instead dangling by my side as I'm, literally, harping on this stupid post. No luck. I got in the car and tried, nothing. Not even a budge. By this time, it's really warming up outside, and all of the kids are out to play. Well, it seems as if most of the other people that are home during the day around here, are the kid's dads. I can only imagine what they were thinking as they were watching me dangling from the yellow post as it will not go into the red car. By this point, I'm incredibly frustrated and give up. I come inside, and tell Stephen I would need some more help when he gets home. He then proceeds to tell me that, "yay, I tried to put them in and couldn't get it either, why else would I have not finished the car?" Seriously???? Seriously? I mean come on people, it's a toy for a child, it should not be this hard. So I then get on the Internet, like any other mom would do, and begin to read the reviews. It turns out that I am not the only 115 lb woman {or 200 lb man, and no, Stephen is not 200 lbs} that cannot get the stupid yellow post in! The reviews were all the same. So, I called Little Tykes and was like "listen lady, I've watched the assembly dvd, I've read the reviews, I've now bent the post because it will not go where it is supposed." These were her exact words "Did you try the hair dryer method?" Excuse me, the hair dryer method? "Yes, all you have to do is take a hair dryer to the post to make it a bit more malleable to get it in." At this point, I wanted to say {but I didn't} "well, it doesn't say I need a HAIRDRYER in the tools needed section on the assembly instructions, so no, I did NOT try the hair dryer method." O. M. W. {Oh my word} She then went on to tell me that she had to do it to put her daughter's together as well and that even though she works for the company, she thinks it is the worst design. Again...SERIOUSLY! I have never in my life, had such a difficult time putting something together, nonetheless for a CHILD! I'm just sayin! So...tonight, I will be trying the hairdryer method. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow!

But, until then, I leave you with these pictures from our perfect day at the park.

  1. That's a pretty long walk to the park, but it was a beautiful day for one.
